Melissa Mead has led a national campaign to raise awareness of sepsis ever since her son William died from the condition in She's used her own personal tragedy to ensure other parents don't have to go through what she and her family suffered by letting people know about the signs and symptoms of sepsis.

President of the Cornwall Law Society and chair of Relate Cornwall, Lucy is a family solicitor at Coodes with a particular specialism in domestic abuse and children's matters.



She's written articles on how social media has changed domestic abuse cases and why she applauds The Archers for tackling the issue of domestic abuse. Terri started working as a volunteer for the Cornwall Blind Association, now known as ISightCornwall, in after overcoming a brain disorder, kidney failure and depression.



Registered blind herself, she went on to become chairman and chief executive of the hugely successful charity which last year celebrated its th birthday. She then moved to a smaller consultancy Wearne Associates where she directed campaigns across brands such as Bisto, McDougalls and Robertson's, as well as heading up the John West and Tupperware accounts and launching Quorn.



Jeannette opened her first charity shop in two years after surviving womb cancer in a bid to further raise awareness with men and women that cancer can happen down 'in their pants'.



She decided to raise awareness of this type of cancers because of the very little information around at the time. As part of her drive to change things, she opened up her first charity shop in Falmouth in to raise money to be able to have a website and to produce leaflets etc to get Pants into the public domain.



A chance meeting with Chris and Rachel Kevern who provide all our photos and videos, led to a great partnership producing images and information with which to interest the media. Together they produced the first Pants Calendar with the entire gynae cancer team at the Royal Cornwall Hospital in their pants for Pants!



The charity is still going strong and has expanded with more shops and more awareness events and activities. Sandra is the chief executive of the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Local Enterprise Partnership, which drives economic growth and job creation.



Since November 1 last year she also has responsibility for economic development and culture at Cornwall Council, in a move designed to foster closer working between the council and business.



Dr Rothwell started her career as an academic, lecturing in European politics and economics before working in a variety of roles leading on the delivery of EU and National programmes across the UK as well as in Finland and Hungary.



Although she is not Cornish, Paula Martin spent her childhood in the county in the St Austell and Roseland area, and later came back to Cornwall in to live and work. Paula joined the charity in May having previously worked in people, project and finance management, delivered through charitable organisations and European funded projects.



She was first elected in and re-elected in After being brought up in Cornwall, Newton went up to King's College London where she read history, before completing a master's degree in the United States, studying as a Rotary International Scholar.



Ann is the business owner and founder of the famous Ann's Pasties shop in The Lizard Village, which is mainland Britain's most southerly point. Ann never expected to become a Cornish pasty-maker.



Her only previous catering experience was waitressing in a vegetarian restaurant in Notting Hill, West London, more than 30 years ago, to help her through art school. Having never made a pasty till about 20 years ago, even though it's something which all the women in my mother's Cornish family traditionally did, she soon found herself crimping and selling pasties with her mother.



Demand grew and Ann started selling her wares from a shop in Helston then Lizard where her company has continued to flourish to the point now her own son is part of the business. Katie is a fully qualified pro-golfer PGA Professional who after having great success in her playing career has taken on the role of being a dedicated teaching professional at the Mullion Golf Club.



Jane has chaired Cornwall Association of Secondary Headteachers and the Truro and Roseland Learning Community, a partnership of secondary, special and nursery schools. Her experience of working with children and young people from the Pacific to Cornwall has placed her in a unique position to understand the opportunities and challenges of achieving successful learning outcomes in isolated and rural contexts.



She has a long and distinguished career as a health service chief executive in Australia and was formerly head of Health Support Queensland and deputy director general at Queensland Department of Health.



She has considerable experience of leading major healthcare organisations and transforming health and social care systems. The year-old has a twin sister who also a life-saving volunteer, Winni, but is at the charity's base at Tower Bridge in London.



I think if we did't have each other we'd be joining anyway but it just seemed the right step to take. She's written a book, filmed a fitness DVD and launched a successful media career and has been praised for her courage, determination, strength of character and positive mindset.
