I've had my Samsung Galaxy S5 for almost two years, although due to water damage I had to have it replaced a couple months ago. The first S5 cracked along the edge in the plastic backing and I think it eventually led to a small hole in my phone.

I'm not a big fan of the colorful menus and icons, but ASUS has tons of skins and icon packs to customize to your liking - I don't care for the quick shortcuts on the lock screen because you need to unlock your phone to use them anyways.

I feel it's still not as good as my Nexus 6P though. Overall, what makes this phone stand out is probably the build quality. There are other phones in the same price range with similar specs, but none that look as sexy as this phone.

Finding that Asus really should've expanded Battery Capacity on this phone like it had for the Zenfone MAX 1st Gen, that phone still holds a charge, four years later, requiring charging every third day!

Anyhow, the Zenfone 3 Deluxe I have now is still going almost two weeks and I hope it continues for a long time to come! Asus is terrible at Tech Support! What happened to Asus?

It used to be a real good company with understanding techs! Just terrible battery life, formats MicroSD to an unreadable format so everything has to go to the phone's internal memory first! Have to look elsewhere until ASUS can straighten it's product line out!

Even running multiple tabs on Firefox the phone runs smooth like butter. I never run out of RAM space. The display is nice and bright, brighter than the ZF2 laser. Bluetooth and wifi connectivity is great.

The battery life is good to get me through the day easily, and charging is fast and easy. I see some people complaining about the software, but the software was one of the reasons I chose this phone.

It is very easy to control which apps run on startup and what permissions the apps get. Smartphones generally don't have more than a couple of buttons, but the whole idea of Zen is that sometimes less is more.

Here are some shortcuts I've found to be useful:. For instance, when you get a call, you can turn your phone face down to silence it, or put it next to your ear to answer. You get fine grained control over all of those things in a very intuitive interface.

One thing I found rather frustrating was that the quick launch buttons the ones in the notification shade are divided into two sections, labeled ambiguously as "tools" green and "items" blue, and you must have exactly 4 "tools" one row and either 8 or 12 "items" 2 or 3 rows.

I found that I only wanted 2 of the "tools" but 10 of the "items", which also adds up to 12, but is not a possible choice. This is pretty stupid. I tried Need For Speed: Sure, it's not as fast as the Snapdragon or now the, with undoubtedly slower benchmarks and all of that jazz.

It's hard to confirm exactly what type of glass it is, the official specs sheet and all of the Taiwanese references only say "Corning 2. The only place I've seen it say that it's Gorilla Glass 3 is gsmarena and I'm not sure where their source is.

The Ultra comes in a china version, and a global version. Neither version has all the bands necessary to work properly with North American carriers. I think you can find it on Amazon now though.

The major problems people like myself have been having with the ZenFone 2 Deluxe Special Edition is that the battery does not last long at all And I don't mean just daily use, I mean the battery completely ceases to function altogether after 1 or 2 months of daily device use.

The product malfunction is the fault of the manufacture and not of the customer. And already Asus has "Discontinued" the device on all online store platforms. Yup, you heard right, Asus already discontinued the smartphone device.

I purchased the device 4 months prior to them having it discontinued. The only thing keeping my device afloat is its 7 month warranty that it has left on the device.

That's personal preference though. Their Zen apps are terrible, their OS updates constantly break important 3rd party apps, and the stability of later updates is terrible.

If they had just left it as AOSP and sold these devices, they would honestly be much better. ZenUI is too ambitious for a company that make decent hardware, but terrible software.

Not wanting excessive bloatware is hardly a "personal preference from David", much of which can apparently only be disabled not uninstalled. Rock is as hard or sometimes harder than glass - glass is made of sand, after all.

ZF2 is fast, it is a lot of RAM 4gb, but Asus is totally horrible about updates, I am not only referring about newer version of Android, but also about their own buggy software.

What I meant to say is, with hardware like that, they probably saved some money on software support. Deluxe edition does not have the same updates as the Selfie or other models of ZF2.

Hmm, actually its the intel cpu which is the problem. Two of my frnds own zenfone. A zenfone 2 and another a zenfone laser. The laser one never gave any problem but the intel one is surely buggy as hell.

I have used both phones for a few times. The bugs I encountered with zenfone 2 were like, camera app freezing after taking a few shots, phone being freezed when receiving a call. I never saw any bug at all in the zenfone laser snapdragon And I hate the bloat.

I prefer the Alcatel Idol 3 4. Well, he is complaining about his zenfone 2. And I am sure there wont be any complaint from snapdragon zenfone users. You have to understand that they are using x86 processors and there has been a lot of problems in coding even the custom roms found online.

Tired of waiting for updates and the last straw the spring in the SIM card slot became loose, resulting in a SIM card error. Just install a third party launcher and then forget the Zen UI.

It is the beauty of Android that we can customize our phone as we wish. Secondly, when you can either uninstall and disable default apps, those apps will not be the reason of your headache anymore.

What I can't understand is that, when Play Store is available for all and it's free, all of the apps are available there, then Why do phone manufacturers bother about pushing those bloatware?

There was no damage to the front glass, but now there are teeth marks in my phone. Didn't even scratch the front glass on this phone, I doubt it'll do anything to the glass on the back.

So far, so good. Also, ASUS is not at all an "off-brand" device. It may be a relative latecomer to smartphones, but definitely not an off-brand. Especially not in Taiwan. Those things are off-brand.

I can't wait to buy one. Included is a certified High Res audio player. Manufacturers set a lowest advertised price and it pretty much stays there until the product is set to be replaced by a newer model.

I don't care about NFC and fast charging, while convenient greatly shortens the battery life. That's an issue now that most phones don't have user replaceable batteries.

I have a 5 hour layover in Taiwan next week. I hope there are stores in the airport that sell them or any store near the international airport.
