Rebooting it worked for mine. Just tried it after a year! Try lifting out the battery and then putting it back in. I Did that Did not work. The best answer to this IMO is grneyerdhd's charging via computer.

After a minute or two it magically came on when I pressed power for a few seconds. Shame on ZTE for overlooking this! From there hit the menu button three dots at the top right of your screen and go to Battery optimization.

From there you can see which apps are optimized and change them. You can only change the non-essential system apps. To save battery life, not to mention mobile data, you can take advantage of 'Lite' versions of popular apps.

These are stripped down to their essential features and designed to be simpler and more economical than their full counterparts. Facebook and Messenger both have Lite apps available in the Play Store.

Skype also has a Lite app in the Play Store, but it may be unstable as it is technically unreleased. For services like Gmail, Twitter and Instagram, there is no Lite app available to download.

Instead, these three have mobile-friendly websites you can access from your browser using the links above. Unlike many Android apps that claim to optimize performance and increase battery life, Greenify actually works.

Greenify allows you to put other apps into hibernation when they aren't in use, preventing them from operating in the background. This frees up system resources and boosts battery performance, but requires a bit of thought.

For Greenify to be effective you can't just hibernate every installed app. But since there are a lot of Android apps that perform actions you don't know about, or necessarily want, this is a useful tool.

This can be helpful in many situations. For example, you might use the Amazon app to browse for things to buy, but don't want it to operate in the background or send notifications. There might be other apps on your Android device operating in the background without a good reason.

Don't use display auto-brightness. It may sound useful, but auto-brightness is usually way brighter than you really need. It's better to manually set the brightness to a level that is low but comfortable, and bump it up when necessary.

This is one of the best ways to improve your battery life, because the screen is one of the biggest battery suckers. Uncheck this box and your auto will be off. From there you should see Brightness level and in it you'll find the auto settings.

Unless you really need that added awareness, turn off vibration alerts for incoming calls. It actually takes more power to vibrate your phone than it does to ring it. Turn off haptic feedback too that buzz you get from typing on the keyboard.

Sure it feels cool, but it doesn't really add anything to your experience, and it's another battery drainer. Watch the video below to see how you can do this. Set sleep times or blocking mode to switch off Wi-Fi and mobile data when you don't need them.

If your phone is basically off limits at work, set your device to not ring, vibrate or connect to the internet while you're at work. Many phones have a Do Not Disturb setting for just this purpose.

Likewise, you can set your phone to airplane mode when you're asleep or use sleep or blocking modes to set up limits for what your phone does during certain times of the day, whether that's while you're asleep, at work or in a meeting.

Turning off location data, or changing your location settings to use Wi-Fi or 3G data rather than GPS works perfectly well. This will increase battery on your Android device.

Only turn on Bluetooth and NFC as long as you need them even though they consume very little power, and there's no need to have both Wi-Fi and mobile data turned on at all times, especially if you know exactly when you'll need one or the other.

Most of these can be found in your Quick settings. Ditch widgets you don't need, especially those connected to the internet, such as weather widgets. If you have multiple widgets across several home screens, which are constantly syncing and updating Twitter, reddit, weather, Gmail and the like, you're not doing your battery any favors.

Just hit the apps when you need them. If you already have a bunch of useless widgets on your device then you just need to do a couple of things and they'll be gone. Long press on a blank space on your home screen.

Find these various options for your device and ROM and make them work for you. Even if your phone doesn't have layers of battery saving features like some or you simply don't want disable so many features, at least make use of the basic battery saver mode.

I'm experiencing the same thing. My Zte will show that its charging and now its fully charged, but won't power on. My phone just turns on and off right away after I did hard reset and it doesn't let me do a force reset how can I fix this problem.

Voir 83 commentaires en plus. The issue described here is mostly caused by the battery becoming so low that the device won't charge it anymore. It doesn't matter how long you leave it connected for.

The solution is to charge the battery externally, with special equipment, which doesn't help many. You can send it to a number of people, including myself I'm I'm Australia though, and they can do this for you.

Best bet is not to leave the phone sitting in a flat state at any point.. For the guy who mentioned FTM, that's a firmware upload mode. Either one of the volume buttons are stuck, or the device has corrupt firmware, which is normally associated with going flat during an update or something like that.

It's a seperate issue. Shame that som many people are leaving stupid comments that obscure your accurate and quick fix!!! Wished I had checked this site before I bought a new one!!

I will try it thou I don't have max pro. I have just a basic ZTE phone with no sim card that I can see. It's been stuck there all night. Also can't find the power button. I tried the circle button, red, green, volume up, volume down.

Nothing seems to power it on. I just got my phone yesterday and my phone is at 50 percent an I took it out my pocket an it turned off an now it won't come back on not even with my charger plugged in an no light comes on I have a ZTE ZMAX pro.

Got it through MetroPCS. Since I got my phone, it's locked up on the black off screen with the home button doing it's slow pulse light while charging thing around 4 times. Couldn't do the finger print turn on or power button turn on.

Tried the holding of the power button for 10 seconds and it of course did the restart. Thought it was doing the same thing to me again but this time, pushing and holding down the power button for the 10 seconds did nothing.

Tried plugging it in to the wall, nothing. Not even the pulse light. Left it plugged in the pc for a bit. Tried the holding of the volumes and power buttons, still nothing.

No red light, no home screen light, no vibrate. Mine died after left it charging FROM the computer. It won't turn on now. Cant call my young son!!! Mine did the same thing, slowly pulsing home button, no boot.

When you have that problem just hold down all of your buttons like you doing a hard reset hold your up and down button and your power button until the start blinking and then put it on the charger let it charge and it will work just like Minds did this is the first time I've ever had this happen and I've had this phone for almost 6 months and I love it I gave it to my daughter and I bought the ZTE grand X Max 2 such a better phone than all the other ZTE out there but good luck with your phones everyone.

And the battery wasn't even dead. Well my phone was fully charged. Left it charging before I left. Came home and it was stating maps wasn't responding message, so I restarted the phone, then it got stuck on the powered by android screen, then it shut off again and didn't come back on.

It has a pulsing blue circle at the base of the phone, but otherwise the screen stays of. Ive tried holding down the power button for 20 seconds but it just wont come back on.

The battery died last night and now it wont come back on and I had it charging all night long. Or would going to best buy be better?? Spoke to them and metro.

I just got lucky. I killed the replacement in 28 days. Screw you metro I'm coming for another new phone. I spoke with customer service. I held the volume up and power button at the same time for about 15 seconds, then l let them both go and just held the power button and then it came back on.

Hope this helps some one. I plugged it into my computer and it's the first time it's come on since it went black screen. I knew about the holding volume buttons and power button but it didn't work.

All you need to do is hold down the power and volume down button at the same time. And when you do that the letters "FTM" in a box should come up on your screen.

Push down the home and volume down again and your phone should start up as usual. You are a stud! I just wished I read this before I took an Uber, taxi, and a Lyft to Walmart, Crickett Wireless, and a gas station looking for the new charger that isn't carried anywhere yet.

It didn't work anyways!!! Hi, so my phone it doesn't turn on and there's no led indicator but the soft keys light up when I hold all 3 buttons or when I plug it in to the charger but it was just given to me I don't really know the history of it.

They said it worked I know it's a possibility it's just broken but was curious. Voir 38 commentaires en plus. If your Zte Zmacks won't turn on you should do two things. First hold down the volume up and down and the power button until the phone light flashes red.

Then just hold the power button down for about 15 seconds or until it turns on. Worked "hold the power button down for about 15 seconds or until it turns on' like a charm, thanks Vanessa!

My ZTE max v5 won't boot up after powering on.. What could be the problem? Thanks for the fix. I thought my baby was done for, found this answer and now my baby is back to life.

I created an account just to give you your props!!!! I'd like to thank everyone for their suggestions, but especially Vanessa! Her solution was the one for me. For once, I hadn't done anything to cause an issue with my electronics.

I just did this to my phone and it cut back on for me! This was very helpful, thumbs up for the help!!! Woke up a few hours later to the same problem. No response with any buttons and the continuous pulsing light like it's charging even when it's off the charger.

Keep holding that button until it turns back on. It will feel like forever but trust in your ZTE. It's completely a software issue as I never dropped it, banged it, punched it, kicked it, or licked it.

But yeah just hold the power button and it'll be fine. However, if you may have dropped or wet your phone you might have a completely different problem. Just look to the ZTE gods for guidance.

Omg thank u so much, It worked! I was so upset when my phone went black at 3am. I was just thinking about having to go to the store and go crazy. Because I bad the phone 2 weeks which is 7 days too long to return it.

Thanks Vanessa, it worked I held the volume up and down and the power buttons at the same time about 15 - 20 seconds, the white home key lit up, I waited about 5 seconds and pressed the power button for about 8 seconds and it turned on.

Think this may b a software defect. Phone was down for two days! Was preparing to buy another. This worked and I have access to my world again! Thank you very much. I know it wasn't battery drained at all but it stopped working.

Power was off and wont do anything once plugged in. It doesnt even vibrate. Since I was away from my laptop to charge it externally, I grabbed my husband's cp and googled and got to see this page.

Im glad I was able to came across this page. Thank you so much! I was about to take my phone to Metro PCS to look at it and that would have been a horror! Funny thing is, when the phone turned back on it was fully charged.

THAN I saw the light in the circle part come on and stay on and im like ok wow finally something cuz usually when you put it on charge that circle with light up and it didn't on the charger, so anyway im like ok now what it aint turning on but hope since that light came on and than im like we'll your instructions did say to just hold power button so I did for like 10 seconds and than it vibrated im like come on you can do it, than I let go and held the power button again AND FINALLY OMG I see what im suppose to see it saying ZTE powered by My phone flashed a white screen and then it stopped blinking, but efore i was blinking.

I was charging m phone, all of a sudden the phone was turning off and on by itself than the screen was frozen, I did manage to turn it off again and wait for many minutes before I turn it on again and I was doing the same thing over and over again and still frozen, I'm in Canada bought the phone less than 4 months, place was closed after I bought it, didn't know it was a phone from US T mobile.

I was so disappointed and frustrated. So i held everything down and it came back on is it ok to resume using it or will it eventually do the same I had let the battery run down, had only the pulsing of charging and nothing else would work.

Wow, I can not tell you how much I appreciate your help!!!!!!! I have the ZTE XMax and for some reason it just shut off earlier with no warning and would not turn back on.

I thought it was seriously broke, even though there was no reason for it to be. Thank you very much!!!

Normally when we are scared of losing everything on our phones we freak out and hold the button for ten seconds thinking that it won't work. The phone will then vibrate and turn right back on exactly as it was.

I was scrolling thru fb when my phone randomly decides to cut off it keeps cutting on and off it won't even get past the start screen before it cuts off and reboot wtf is going on?

Same for me amber I have only had it for 3 months! My zte pro max that I have own for a few months now keeps shutting off on me n at times it restarts on its own, all this started happening after I did a system update on the phone.

To get it started I have to hold the down volume button n the power for 10 to 20 seconds. Sometimes it will go on at less seconds n at times it takes longer. A black screen appears with a small white square in the middle with the letters FTM.

Then I have to hit the power in order for the phone to restart. I think the updated program that was updated was defective, also my battery does not last like it used to.

Worked for my son's phone.. Took more like seconds though just glad it came on.. I was wondering if you drop your zte blade z max and hits your stairs, atleast a foot and a half, and your screen freezes up.

OK then you try to turn it off by holding the power button for ten or 15 sec and it turns off then it won't turn on for some reason. Obviously I tried charging and I could feel the battery hot but the screen won't turn on for nothing plsss help any advice????

Hold the volume up and the power buttons at the same time for a few seconds until the screen turns on. I'm doing what you say1. Thank you so much. I went back to store location and with it only being exactly 2 months old, they are replacing the phone through manufacture guarantee.

Extreme solutions like this one need to be put at the bottom of the list as they are the last option. This solution did the trick. So strange, the phone was fully changed. It seemed like it needed system reboot.

The above method works. I believe my phone crashed because I have too little operating memory left. It had been telling me for days, wouldn't do visual voicemail or texts. I followed the directions and sure enough a menu came up.

I did not do a system reboot though, I selected 'power off ' from the menu, and the phone turned off. Thank yo very much to everyone who shared their solutions, because I thought all was lost!

Either way your help was very much appreciated. I hold down power button but blue light turns off within 10 seconds and it won't turn on. This is a replacement since my other one had issues with power button.

I've only had this 1 for 2 months. I had the same issue. All you have to do is hold the power down for like 1or 2 min. Then the phone will power up. Yep mine did the same after 2min.

Also removed the battery until it lit. Original Charger plugged into wall as Blake said,. Unplug battery and then plug charger in with battery disconnected. Screen will power on, then show battery icon.

Plug battery back in while the charger is plugged in and allow the charge for awhile. I looked through several suggestions here until I found this one. I followed this and my phone is now charging, It had been too low.

If you do this method your phone still wont turn on force your charger to gey your battery phone working again hope this helps for y'all xo. I am hoping this answer will be voted up so he gets all the credit.

Terrific discovery while the rest of us thought using the factory charger is best. When this happened with my LG G3 I had to reinstall battery. Shame on android too for not putting safeguards for this where they let the entire battery get drained.

My phone just did this, I came here and read e veryones review. Hold the button down for more than 10 seconds. It worked on my son's phone More like seconds hold power button just happy it came back on.

Turn off auto-syncing for Google accounts. If you don't need every single Google account updated every 15 minutes, just go into Settings and Google account and turn off auto-sync for those apps you don't need constantly updated.

The same goes for Twitter, Reddit and co. Unless you need constant updates or push notifications like for Facebook or your calendar just sync when you actually use the app. Did we miss anything? What are your best battery saving tips?

Tell us about them in the comments. Obviously, every application that runs in the background consumes memory and that's why it's good to keep only the really important applications. I used battery economists for a while, but I noticed that their effect is not what I expected, so I quit any optimizer.

Personally, the WiFi connection keeps on working all the time. Together with the minimum of applications I need, the battery holds me for 2 days, which I am pleased with.

I keep the Wifi scanning and Bluetooth scanning for location accuracy always turned off. I agree with almost all your tips and I also seem to have some more tips myself. Please drain my battery: To make your phone battery last you treat it the same as any other type of battery, thats never run it down to low, never fast charge as seems to be the practice now?

These are great tips at optimization of the battery life. Now all I need to do is follow the advice. Still a good read. Always nice to get a refresher. I have read many saving articles over the years, but this the very best collection of battery saving information.

Disable most of the applications you do not use regular, Battery Doctor or Purify helps you out a lot, Brightness Slider is very good for adjusting your screen brightness and disable auto brightness, and download apps from the play store that include the Exit option.

I love this article. I have the zte zmax duo LTE. In settings I have no battery section so I can't battery optimize any of my apps. Does anyone know how to fix that? For the diehard energy savers I have this tip: There's a lot of power hungry apps as well, for example the facebook app.

Removing such apps also help reduce power and save battery life. Compare with Purify app, which one is better, I am using Purify app, and I think it is ok for me.

Screen Filter is the application I find out to stop my Galaxy phones battery draining, Google should have realised by now that Android can end up being a battery draining software, and the Exit function should be included in everything created for android, that's what applications I always look for on Android, pressing screen filter before I press the screen off button does really help my battery when I go to bed or using my phones in the day, cool bright as well for setting my screens brightness.

Create account Be part of the largest Android community. Continue with Google Continue with Facebook or. How Android batteries work First, some background: Doze Mode Doze mode has been around since Android Marshmallow, but with Nougat, it's been much improved.

Find out when your phone is getting Nougat Turn off Google hotwords Stop your phone from always listening. Don't let your apps fall behind the times Keep your apps updated. Use the 'Lite' versions of apps To save battery life, not to mention mobile data, you can take advantage of 'Lite' versions of popular apps.

Use Greenify Unlike many Android apps that claim to optimize performance and increase battery life, Greenify actually works. Doze promises to reduce battery drain while your device is not being used.

Save battery by using the manual brightness controls. Don't get bogged down by widgets Ditch widgets you don't need, especially those connected to the internet, such as weather widgets.

Battery saver promises to reduce battery drain while your device is not being used. This article was updated with contributions from Brittany McGhee.
